Invest & Fund was founded in November 2012 by David Turner, a former city trader with 30+ years’ experience and Mark Hawkins, a financial chartered accountant with 35 years’ accounting and directorship experience. Like a lot of good businesses, we started with a problem to solve: how to make it easy and rewarding for individuals and institutions to lend to businesses looking for alternative sources of finance.
David and Mark recruited Chief Technology Officer Stephen Kenny, a veteran of successful technology start-ups such as Betfair and The Property Investment Market. In July 2014, we successfully facilitated our first loan through investandfund.com.
As the business grew, we received an increasing number of enquiries from residential property developers looking to finance new projects. Loans for this sector were also attracting the greatest interest from lenders. As a result, in August 2015 we switched to focus exclusively on the residential development and bridging finance market. We appointed a Board with substantial experience in senior banking, wealth management, property lending and peer-to-peer finance and introduced our Credit Assessment Group, a team of credit experts with deep experience in property development and credit risk assessment.
Today we are a team of 25+ led by David and Mark, Chairman Robert Burgess and Non-Executive Directors Mark Kibblewhite and Brian Lynch.

A PLC Main Board Director (FTSE 100/250), Robert has extensive ExCo experience working in Group Executive positions with Lloyds Banking Group, as CEO of Alliance Trust, Co-founder of Exchange Associates and NED for OakNorth Bank.
Mark has worked in financial services for 30+ years, largely with Barclays where he was MD of Barclays Wealth and Barclays Capital, developed the UK private bank franchise and ran the Investment Banking UK arm. He is an active P2P and real estate investor.

David co-founded Invest & Fund after a 30-year career as a trader in the City of London, working for various financial institutions including Tullett Prebon and RBS. David has a clear vision for how the business can capture the growing peer-to-peer opportunity.
Chief Financial Officer and Co-Founder
Mark is an FCA qualified chartered accountant and has more than 30 years’ experience in a range of Financial Directorship roles. He co-founded Invest & Fund with David to help businesses and lenders tap into alternative sources of finance.
Paul is a highly-experienced financial services executive with experience across senior operations, risk and compliance roles. He has held Executive and Director level roles for Barclays, Woolwich and Nationwide and is an FSA approved person.
Chief Technology Officer
Stephen is an experienced CTO and CEO skilled at working with successful high growth, technology-driven businesses. He is the former CTO of Betfair and founder of the UK’s first peer-to-peer investment network.
Head of Credit Risk
Bill leads the I&F Credit Assessment Group (CAG), a team of credit experts who work closely with our internal Credit Team to provide independent opinion and approval on all lending opportunities. Bill is a career banker with 40+ years’ experience.
Steve brings more than 35 years’ credit and corporate banking experience to our Credit Assessment Group. He was formerly the Head of Property Credit at Barclays and worked in various consultancy roles for the Bank of England, Bank of Ireland and CIT.
Richard worked for Barclays for 40 years, specialising in property and construction-related lending for more than 20 years. He brings a vast amount of specialist and bespoke lending experience to our Credit Assessment Group.
Senior Credit Manager
A structured property finance specialist with 15+ years’ experience, Bhavna heads up the internal Credit Team, working alongside the BDM and Credit Assessment Group to identify, analyse and manage credit risk on all lending opportunities.
Jay was previously on the Barclays Corporate Graduate Scheme where he worked as an Assistant Relationship Manager for the UK's largest Professional Services firms and as a Credit Analyst in the Property Credit Team. He joined in 2015, adding to the firm’s depth of credit expertise.
Annabel has 12+ years compliance experience, gained at UBS, JP Morgan and in various compliance consultancy roles. She holds the CISI Diploma in Investment Compliance and the Legal Practice Course.
Web and Software Developer
Nathan is primarily focused on creating the best possible online experience for Invest & Fund lenders and borrowers. Nathan holds a BSc (Hons) in Internet Computing from the University of Brighton.
Max is an avid technologist, working on Invest & Fund’s software infrastructure and applications to enhance the user experience of our lenders and borrowers. Max holds an MEng in Computer Science from the University of Southampton.
Head of Institutional Lending
Adam brings more than 30 years’ experience and expertise in banking and financial markets to Invest & Fund, having held MD roles with Lloyds Banking Group, Goldman Sachs, UBS and Barclays Capital. Adam is responsible for building I&F’s institutional lender network.
Head of Marketing
Matt was formerly Head of Brand and Communication for one of Australia’s largest retail wealth managers and Head of Group Brand for Octopus, a fast-growing UK investment manager. He joined the business in February 2017.
Lender Relationship Executive
Patrick joined in 2018 to focus on the growth and management of our individual and high net worth lender base. Patrick worked for Pepper Money as a BDM for their residential and Buy-to-Let mortgage lending and HSBC as Premier Relationship Manager.
Business Development Manager
Tracy has operated her own broking business and worked in lending and business development roles throughout her career. She is based in the Midlands and works with brokers and developers across England and Wales.

Colin has more than 20 years' property experience gained at HSBC, Nationwide, Natwest and Santander. He joins Invest & Fund from his more recent position as Relationship Director with NatWest and with responsibility for the South West region of England.

Paul is a highly experienced property finance specialist, and brings an enormous amount of real estate development finance and credit risk expertise to the team.
Helen has 30+ years’ experience in financial, commercial and not-for-profit sectors, helping businesses establish effective processes and procedures to grow efficiently and deliver quality customer experiences.
Mary brings 30+ years’ experience in banking and finance roles to Invest & Fund. Previously at NatWest, Arbuthnot Commercial Finance and Bibby Financial Services, Mary now specialises in business administration and customer service.
Rachel has 20+ years’ experience in administration roles for information, publishing and finance businesses. Rachel is skilled at building strong relationships and delivering a high quality, customer-focused service.
Lisa joined Invest & Fund in 2017 after working in the re-mortgage department of a conveyancing and property law firm. Lisa is a talented administrator with a clear focus on delivering outstanding customer service.
Before joining Invest & Fund, Carol worked at NatWest Bank for 25 years, looking after high net worth customers. She has also worked as an estate agent in France and an office manager at an Edinburgh-based finance company.
Victoria co-ordinates our recruitment process, bringing a professional and enthusiastic welcome to candidates. She has held a number of senior positions within corporate finance, sales and recruitment.
